Dr Sylvia Chungchunlam earned her PhD in Nutritional Sciences in 2013 at the Riddet Institute, Massey University, supervised by Distinguished Professor Paul Moughan, Dr Sharon Henare and Dr Siva Ganesh (retired from AgResearch in 2018). She investigated the effect of dairy whey protein on food intake and satiety in adult humans. Dr Chungchunlam received her Bachelors of Science in Biomedicine in 2004 from the University of East Anglia (UK).
Dr Chungchunlam’s research focuses on the digestion, absorption and nutritional value of proteins and amino acids. Her current research is based around dietary assessment and nutrient requirements to model food patterns, with a particular interest in nutrient bioavailability and the role of animal-based foods in least-cost diets using a Linear Programming approach.
