Mariero is a PhD student at Massey University under the New Zealand Scholarships Programme by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). She is from the Philippines, had MS in Food Science degree from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and was a university instructor before her PhD study. She is under the supervision of Dr. Lovedeep Kaur involving research in meat quality and digestibility, with particular focus on New Zealand goat meat. Her research involves how innovative processes can modify meat microstructure and properties and affects meat protein digestibility.
