Kai completed a PhD in plant biology at Massey University in 2019 working on QTL mapping of regions of the genome associated with the plant growth form, divarication, in Kowhai (Sophora). In 2020-2022, she worked as a research technician at Massey University supporting research on preventing early host recognition of the fungal plant pathogens in the Sclerotiniaceae family. She joined the Riddet Institute in early 2022 and am currently supporting work on several projects.
