Dr Mark McCann graduated from the University of Ulster at Coleraine in 2006 with a PhD in Biomedical Science, focusing on the effects of a plant-derived bio-active on prostate cancer. After his post-doc with the Northern Ireland Centre for Diet and Health, he moved to NZ in 2008 as a Research Scientist in the Biomolecular Discovery objective of Nutrigenomics NZ, based at AgResearch Limited in Palmerston North. During his time with AgResearch he has been awarded a Marsden Fast-Start grant (2008-2011) and three successive Palmerston North Medical Research Foundation Wilson Grants (2010-2013). Since 2014, Dr McCann has been a Senior Research Scientist at AgResearch Limited. His research focuses on the capacity of milk-derived extracellular vesicles, and their contents, to influence early life development in humans.
