Working with industry
The Riddet Institute plays a pivotal role in fortifying the New Zealand food industry with scientific excellence. Food is central to New Zealand's economy and more than half our export income derives from food products.More than ever before our food industry relies on science and technology to ensure premium products, efficient processes and, increasingly, the development of very high value IP embedded specialty food ingredients.
We work with key New Zealand companies, including the Fonterra Co-operative Group, ZESPRI International Ltd and Beef+Lamb New Zealand, to build on opportunities from our primary production.
Riddet Institute investigates a healthier fruit juice
Fruit juice with new functionality is under development at the Riddet Institute. Funded by Frucor and the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the project is being run by post-graduate intern Suman Saha under the supervision of Riddet Institute Food Technologist Arup Nag and Product Development Manager, Dr Shantanu Das. The six-month project finishes in July. Suman completed his research project for a Post Graduate Diploma in Biotechnology (Massey University) at the Riddet Institute last year working within the product development team.
Our engagement across the wider industry spectrum comes through Riddet Foodlink.
